CP no more!!!
My little fighter…I can’t tell you how proud I am of you… Yesterday you and mommy went to Hamilton for your 6 month growth and development checkup. Everything went really well at the appointment, in fact I was told that you are now 16 pounds and almost 27inches long!! You are growing and growing! but the really big news is that the neonatologist came in (she is a specialist in working with children in and out of the NICU). She assessed you and took a history of how you are doing and after a big of watching you and seeing how you are moving she came to the conclusion that you “do not have cerebal palsy”!!! See your dad and I were told that due to the bleed in your brain, there was a high possibility that you would end up with CP...
9 months old
Well Ayden, you are now 9 months old (as of Aug 13th, 2009). You are growing like crazy! You must weigh about 15 and a half or 16 pounds by now. You are eating like crazy too. You are eating your bottle filled with formula, but you are also enjoying the world of cereal and baby veggies (so far we have tried carrots and sweet potato!)…I must say you take after your dad and I as you seem to really enjoy food!!! You had some first’s this week to. You met another grandparent this week. On August 12th you and I went and saw Grandma (my mom) for the first time. We had a really nice visit with her. She snuggled with you and made you smile. You met her dogs as well, they are really cute! You really enjoyed being with her! She also gave us some money to get...
finally pooping every day!!!
well, we have had quite a hard time with Ayden and his bowel movements. When he was on breast milk almost every diaper was dirty but when we moved to formula he became a 5-6 day pooper…meaning that it was only every 5-6 days he would poop and he would not go on his own. I had to give him glycerine suppossitories or use a trick a doc taught me with a q-tip and some ky jelly…You hate to assist as babies will become dependent on this and will only go when they are helped but you can’t let him go too long without pooping…so in the last week and a bit we have introduced oat cereal into his diet and as you read below yesterday we started on carrots. Well the solid foods are definately helping his system. After we gave him the carrots last night,...
Three Firsts In One Day!
Who knew waking up today that it would hold so many firsts for our little fella. It started off good because Ayden slept in a little – as of late he’s been getting up at 6:30am.. give or take, but today he slept till 7:15am. I know!!! that’s crazy. It gave mom time to have a shower – which she normally doesn’t have time for in the morning. Today the infant development lady (Janice Richards) came to check in on Ayden – she makes sure that the little guy is meeting his developmental benchmarks and stuff like that and if he needs any help there’s a whole ton of people that are willing to step in and guide Ayden to make the most of his life. At 4:30pm today Ayden’s Physiotherapist showed up to teach Lindsay and I...
First time eating cereal!!!
Well last night August 4th was Ayden’s first time eating cereal. We bought some Nestle Oat cereal (as we heard that the rice cereal is a bunger) and thought that we would give it a go. Now Ayden is only 5 months and 10 days (11 today) past his due date, but he was giving us big cues that he was ready for some food. He was watching mark and I like a hawk when we were eating, following the fork from plate to mouth. So we consulted Aunt Tory last night on some specifics to the feeding and away we went. We gave Ayden his normal night time bottle at 8 o’clock and the finished with a few teeny tiny spoon fulls of cereal. He loved it!!! As soon as I put the spoon to his mouth he knew what to do. He spit up only once, but seemed to really enjoy it. So now...
a few good and crazy days
Well little one, you have had quite a crazy few up and down days. Friday night (July 24th, 2009) was a really really hard nite. You and I had a good day, but around 4pm for some reason you started to cry….and this was not a whiny cry, this was a full out scream cry where you are in some sort of pain but mommy can’t figure out whats wrong. To top it all off, daddy was working late and did not get home until after 8pm. Mommy managed to give you a bath all by herself and I tried my best to calm you down but nothing worked. I rocked you, I bounced you, I swaddled you, I hugged you, I put you on the floor, I put you in your swing…I did everything I could think of to make you comfortable, but none of it worked. finally when daddy came home, he managed...
