2 Months Gestational!!

This was written on April 25th… April 25th marks Ayden’s 2 month old mark, gestationally speaking. And what a day it’s been… well actually today itself was pretty great… we enjoyed the summer-like weather, as it was an unseasonal 25 degree’s feeling like 29 with the humidity. We ran some errands in town, picked up a light diffuser for the car window so Ayden doesn’t get direct sun coming in, and got him some sun screen to boot! we had lunch and then headed back home… where Lindsay and Ayden watched me work in the front garden. I took some robaxicet and then tore out some bushes… and cleaned up the garden. We took and old half barrel and buried half of it in the ground and the whole garden is now ready for some...

10.5 pounds!

Yup, our little dude is certianly growing up! Your Thrush is gone and now your 10.5lbs (un-related to the Thrush). You are also now 22inches from head to toe. There are a few times in a persons life that double digits are important.. the most of all is your 10th birthday, but I think this is a pretty important milestone. So whats the world like when you reached 10lbs, well… hmmm How about I go copy and paste some headlines from some news site?.. one moment… “Mexico City on alert over swine flu scare” “A gift from the heavens” article about the awesome weather yesterday it was 25 degree’s Celsius. Okay that was just to cute – while I was hunting for headlines – you just blurted out a laugh and mom, who’s...

Late Night Feeds – A little easier

So it’s 2:19am again, and here we are in Ayden’s room, Mom hunting for a burp and me up for support. So I thought it would be time for an Ayden update. Mainly so the little guy knows what was going on in his life…so you’ll bare with me as I address him. So little fella – this past week has been up and down for you… first off your growing!! I’m sure you’ll hear that in these over and over  but we noticed when we put you in a  sleeper we had used when you got out of the hospital and couldn’t fill out the legs and now.. now your almost to big for it, as it is fairly snug on you. Your eating formula now… not in it’s exclusivity if that’s a word. but my spell check didn’t underline it so...

Preemies…

So having a preemie baby is much more exciting then I would have ever thought. Ayden is quite a handful and heres why… A normal baby “full term”, will have growth spurts throughout their development and then they will plateau for a bit and then grow again. Ayden on the other hand will have a continuous growth spurt over the first year of his life…what this means…he’s constantly growing (which is great news). The hard part is, he is always hungry even though you have fed him, he is constantly fussy and he cries a lot.  Makes for some fun days for mom and dad!!! Ayden also has a premature system. His nervous, tummy and bowels are all still developing as well. When Ayden cries, it’s not always for food or that he has gas...

Hearing Test…

Well I know it’s been some time folks, and frankly that’s not really our choice in this… Ayden has learned to use his voice to communicate, and although he can’t speak in sentences, he can speak in gibberish and loud cries. So to communicate that he is indeed hungry and would greatly appreciate a bottle of milk he screams till he’s red in the face. He does also make some pretty darn cute coo’ing noises too. However, Mom hasn’t been able to put him down for very long, usually long enough to wash some bottles or possibly put on the dishwasher. Our evenings consist usually of me attempting to give Lindsay a break, so she can perform simple tasks like having a shower, or eating. It’s not that he’s being bad or...

7 Hours Sleep…

7 hours sleep is a great way to start a day… and that’s what our little guy gave us… I woke up this morning to his noises coming across the monitor and I rubbed my sleepy eyes and looked up at the ceiling to see what time it was.. (our clock projects the time) and expecting to see 3am as per usual.. it said 5:04am.. I was like whoa.. Lindsay must have fed him and not got me up to help her with the night feed. So I woke her up and asked her… she said no – she didn’t get up… talk about getting rejuvenated! that was awesome! So at 6:45am rolls around and Lindsay had to leave for Hamilton so we got her all ready and off she went for her eye appointment at 8:15am. The weather today was cold and snowy – there was a bunch...

EnKlar!!!

So – it’s been a pretty long time since the last time the little guy let me have two seconds to write here… Ayden you’ve certainly been a handful. Time to recap what’s been going on in your life little guy. Mom is falling asleep faster than you are right now. At any rate I digress… Today the physiotherapy lady Melanie something or other came and looked at Ayden – she said to Lindsay “Why am I here again” more or less.  And Lindsay told her Ayden’s tale. Then she understood. But it was her initial look at him that confused her as she said he’s completely normal and everything is fine… save for his neck but that’s just because he favors one side when he sleeps so we have to put him down...
