Nov 19th Updates

I like days when we only get a little news… seems like every single time it comes to finding out how he’s doing my tummy flips because what if there’s bad news today. uuugh… So what did we learn today… 1. His electrolites are low… I guess his sodium specifically is lower than it’s been so they’re gonna monitor that… 2. They would like it if he would urinate a little more… they wanna make sure the kidneys are still operating fine. 3. They fed him at 4pm and were going to try again at 8pm tonight. We’ll find out tomorrow if his food stayed down. So tomorrow we meet with the Dr and I must admit – we’re sooooooo nervous. uuugh I’m sure it’ll be fine after but my tummy is doing...

7 Days Blessed With A Son

Hiya gang, So it’s been 7 days now that the little guy has been with us. Can you believe it… 7 days… it was just back on Nov 6th that Lindsay went into the hospital.. Then on that fateful night/morning… she gave birth to a 790g boy. Well today he’s lost a little weight, coming in at 660g. He is still breathing on his own, his heart came back strong and well, so that test is a victory. The 2nd ultrasound of his head did show that the bleeding hasn’t gotten worse but is still fairly severe. Now we did have time to talk to the Dr and there are procedures in place that they didn’t tell us about before… so shame on you Dr Zikar. I’ll get into those procedures more after we talk with Dr Fusch on Thursday. Other...

26 Weeks Today!!

So today marks the 26th week in Aydens development. Last night I went down with Lindsay Oma, and Aunt Tory. It was a great visit! As a result Lindsay and I slept through the whole night… ya I know she forgot to get up and pump – but she must have needed it. So I’m sure you’d all like some good news. Well lets see.. the scans of Aydens Heart came back to show no problems – it’s a strong little heart. His lungs are just trucking away breathing. This tube you see in the image. (My favorite to date) is just some humidity and some oxygen.. otherwise he’s doing all the work. Dr Zikar was there last night – the Dr that gave us the bad news with Aydens brain bleed. And We chatted and it was good. Last time we talked...

Another Day

Well Yesterday was hands down the worst day in my life. I’ll totally admit that I lost it. I totally balled. And Lindsay and I just held each other and wondered why is the world picking on us.. why did we have to fight so hard to have a child and then to have it born premature we know we risk losing him.. but this news was just kicking us when we were down. The idea that bleeding in Ayden’s head could cause him something very serious, was devestating. So I did the only thing I could do – I prayed. I haven’t honestly prayed in a very long time. There are days where I wonder if there really is a god out there. Maybe thats why this is happening maybe I’m being punished for a lack of faith. But if that’s the case then that’s...

Intraventricular Hemorrhage

Well this roller coaster is just getting started it would seem. Little Ayden is just the cutest little guy… we went down tonight to watch him… we were hoping that we’d get to watch the “handling” time which is when the nurse cleans him rotates him and moves him. However when we got down there the nurse pulled us aside and said the Dr needed to address something with us. He started talking to us about Intraventricular Hemorrhage. Intraventricular Hemorrhage (IVH) Intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) is bleeding into the ventricles of the brain. One characteristic of the immature brain is a weakness of the blood vessels next to the ventricles. The ventricles are cavities that store cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) which nourishes the brain. Of...

The Road To Health

From time to time Lindsay and I will get down about things.. either the stress builds up or our emotions are running particularly high at the moment.. So it’s very important for me to be able to make her laugh. It’s a known fact that laughing removes stress from the body. Well Lindsay stumbled across this video on YouTube and could not stop laughing… I’ll admit it made me laugh to… so I’d like to share the laugh with any of you that need a laugh. Hamster on a Piano
