Eye Spy
We thought you’d all like to know that Ayden’s eye tests came back with no signs of eye disease and growth and development is progressing normally. I know I know – Kind of an important fact to forget to write… but better late than never! cheers
Most Amazing Visit Yet!
So last night Lindsay and I headed up to Mac to see Ayden… we knew that every other day was bath day… and so we thought since we haven’t seen bath time we’d head up and see what this is all about. The drive up was okay.. the weather was fine initially… We got there around, 7:30ish and totally didn’t take into consideration that the hospital does their change over between 7 and 7:30 so the nurses were all in little meetings. We headed in right away to Ayden’s bedside. I always get excited every time I go in. There he was sleeping on his tummy. He was swinging while we were there and a nurse that would watch the incubators while the other nurses caught up came over and made some tweaks and he was fine. The night nurse...

Sunday Jan 4th
Well we didn’t make it in to see Ayden today. There was a weather warning for some freezing rain and we felt that it was safer to stay in then try to brave the weather. But funny thing that weather man…he was wrong. There was a bit of rain today, but it was not a freezing rain as they predicted…sigh… Anyways, we called as we normally do for an update. Ayden is doing well. He has gained some more weight and is up to 1674 grams (3.6 pounds). The nurse said some of that might be a bit of water weight as he is a little bloated, but even so he is growing and growing. His oxygen is anywhere between room air 21% oxygen to 26% depending on how he is lying and if his tummy is full or not. He is still doing well with his milk at 20 mils every two...
A Moment From Dad…
Yet another wonderful day we are blessed with a little one… he he he. We were up at the hospital today and Mom was fortunate enough to have some kangaroo time. And knowing now how good that was.. it was great to see. She spent 2 and a half hours with the little fella. At first he was on his back in her arms but then as things progressed he was moved onto his belly.. Mom supported him by holding his little bum to keep him against her. After that he was happy. After Ayden went back into his incubator then mom went to pump… I stood there staring at my son sleeping… and I started to think about when he gets older… I knew from experience seeing other children that if you are doing your job correctly as a parent you’ll hear at some point...
January 2nd update
Hi everyone! So today’s update is a good one! this morning dad and I called in for our morning update and we were told that Ayden was a bit fussy today. He had spit up a few times and was swinging quite a bit. But this evening’s call bring this fussy’ness to a close. Apparently Ayden had a full tummy and did not have a poop this morning. They think that since he was so full and was trying to push a poop out that his tummy did an opposite and the food came back up. He did have a poop this afternoon and after that he was just fine! Ayden now weighs 1591 grams (3.5 pounds). He is also breathing room air as well. He still has his nose prongs in, but room air that you and I breath has 21% oxygen in it. Ayden has not required more then this amount of...
A Quick Note About Comments…
Just wanted to leave a quick note here.. in order to send a comment… you need to click on the title of the article you want to comment on or where it says at the bottom 2 comments. or No comments. All these links take you to the article page where at the bottom you will find a place for comments. Why Commenting is Important… It lets Mom and Dad here know that people are reading the blog, but more importantly when Ayden is 1 year old which is when I plan on stopping the blog. I will take the entire site and the database that these posts are in and put it all on a DVD for Ayden and he’ll be able to pop in the disk and go through the site and all the comments. And I think it’s important for him to see all the people rooting for him. So write...
