2nd Night

After night 1 – I’ll admit i was terrified of night 2… i was so nervous and almost sick coming home yesterday… I hated being so helpless. We didn’t know why he was so restless – we’d never heard him cry like that… then it hit Lindsay… her milk supply is going away… she’s fed him for over 3 months and we’ve got tons in storage -but sadly she can’t keep up with his demand. So she was getting stressed about it and last night we talked and agreed that it would be best for all parties if we moved forward with the goal of using up the stored milk and eventually mixing in formula until the breast milk is phased out, as in used up. So last night with the bottle feeds he was awesome, he was the...

1st Night

uuugh… if this doesn’t make any sense it’s because baby is a native word for ‘stealer of sleep’ midnight hit and he started to wail… he’d never done that before… and he just wailed and wailed.. it took all my fatherly superpowers to get him calm and asleep – but you can’t put him down.. so I took the first watch.. 12 to 3:20am and then I got to sleep from 3:40am till 6;30am. Poor mom she looks beat… but her parents are coming to see her today so perhaps she can sneak in a nap. I have to head to work.. instincts have kicked in to head to a timmies, these have been dormant for some time… until now. But dispite the shrill whailling in my face for a good hunk of the night… I love him to...

103 days and finally HOME!!!!

Well, you read right!!! We are at home!!! Ayden has been doing so well with the breastfeeding that yesterday alone he gained 20grams. He also passed his car seat test too. So when the doctor came into see us this morning, he said that since we were doing so well, Ayden bought his ticket out!!!!!  Mark did a little dance right there!!! So while the nurses were doing the discharge, we cleaned out my room, packed the car and dealt with the parking passes. Mark also got all of the prescription medications filled for Ayden as well. The nurse gave us all the info, and also told us how to administer the meds. He is on 3 different kinds, it’s going to be interesting giving them to him…they also gave us the schedule for the meds and it’s all over the...

Some News

Whew – it’s fairly late – but if I don’t post now, then there will be no posts… And I really am sorry that I haven’t been able to write more but with Ayden at the hospital here in town I’ve been spending almost all my free time there. So many of you are probably wondering whats going on. Well things generally I’d say are pretty good. Ayden tore his feeding tube out of his face on Friday and the nurses said “well since mom is gonna stay here around the clock and feed him, we’ll leave it out” so no more feeding tube. Lindsay has for the last 24hours been feeding Ayden entirely on her own.. no top ups and no bottles. So way to go mom! The down side of this is she’s stuck sharing a small room and...

Enroute

Ayden is currently on his first journey in a vehicle (on his own, as in not inside mom) as he’s heading to GRANDRIVER hospital. A bed was available today, so Mom is packing up and on her way home as well. She’s beside herself with joy at the prospect of being able to sleep at home tonight!!! Ayden has to be quarantined for 24 hours to make sure he’s not bringing any infections along with him and then they’ll put him in the nicu. I myself, am excited that I can now visit with ease my family at the hospital. Very exiting… a nurse at MAC has guestimated that he’s got another 3 weeks in the hospital. It’s not a set date.. so much as he’s got to accomplish certain parts of development on his own. But he’s growing...
