Milk

We have had a few people question what we are going to do with the milk once Ayden comes home so I thought I would answer it! The milk is only good for 6 months once it has been frozen. Once Ayden comes home, we hope that he will be soley breastfeeding. The milk will be kept in the freezer as a just in case. One of the just in case situation’s could be…I get sick and am on antiobiotics that are not good for the baby… So we will hold onto it until the 6 month period and then we will toss it.  🙂

What a crazy couple of days…

Hi there… As I am on mat leave and Ayden is still in the hospital, this makes for a very difficult and emotional time for me. It’s very hard to be off work when you don’t have your baby at home…so to remedy this, I have been going to the hospital almost every day since he was born.  It is quite a joy to see him, hold him, feel him, and just be at his side…but there is another part to being at the hospital that is very stressful. Ayden’s health is doing much better. he is growing, he has baby chub, he cries when he needs something and he is just acting like a baby should. In my mind I know that he still needs to be at the hospital, but in my heart I just want to bring him home. The drive to and from Hamilton every day is getting...

Keep On Truckin'

Well just wanted to say that Ayden is just truckin’ along. not a heck of a lot to report this day. On the down side his diaper rash has gotten worse, so way to go Nurse Heather for not changing his diaper because you didn’t feel like it. If you were working for me I’d fire you right quick. But thankfully you haven’t been on for the past few days. His rash got so bad that they had to actually use a medicated cream now – the zinc cream wont do it.  But we did take it up with the Charge Nurse – she’s like the head nurse on the floor and she told us that she’s very upset with how that was handled and that next time it’s our duty to bring it to the charge nurses’ attention immediately and that if we ask them...

Well Ayden is still doing well. Tonight was bath and weigh night. Ayden is at 2252 grams (4 pounds 15.5 ounces), he is a half an ounce off of 5 pounds!!! Ayden had another eye test today and it seems that his eyes are growing just great. No problems at all. He is also still on his low flow oxygen, they call it bubble oxygen. it’s just enough to help Ayden stabilize his oxygen and not swing so much. I had a nice snuggle with him today. He loves his soother and was just enjoying it so much today. I gave him a kiss on the forehead before I left him for the day! Yesterday Ayden had a few bradies (when his oxygen and heart rate drop), but has not had anything since 8:20 yesterday morning. Due to that, the doctors have decided to keep his food at the same level...

weight update Jan 17th

weight update is 2167 grams, this is up 93 grams from the last weigh in. He would be 4 pounds 12.5  ounces right now! Other then that he is all tucked in for the nite!

January 17th…66 days old

Well our little guy is doing really well. As per the earlier post, he took his CPAP off all on his own and he actually lasted almost 24 hours without any breathing intervention!  They have put him back on what is called a low flow oxygen tube. Its a very small light tube that just sits inside your nose and gives just a small amount of oxygen. Ayden seems to be swinging a bit so they put him on this for a little bit. He should not need it for too long. He does not have anything restricting his face with this tubing, its just a little tape to hold it in place! His food has been changed to 40 mils and tonight he gets weighed so we will update that when we find out the new weight. I was at the hospital yesterday and found that I was displeased with the care he was...
