For Old Time Sake…
So, when you child starts to sleep from 8:30pm or 9 till around 6am or 7 even 8 some days for like 2 or 3 months, it’s easy to adapt to it. But tonight Ayden decided for ‘old time sake’ that he’d wake up in the middle of the night… so it’s 3am ooh now it’s 4am.. that’ll make for a fun day tomorrow.. luckily Wed is Canada day and a holiday.. ya what’s with that in the middle of the week – weird.
In any event I made him a bottle like it’s my job to do – Mom entertained him and then is now feeding him. So I think we’ll be alright… he’s not screaming or fussing – he just woke up.
The importance of the burrito…
We wrap Ayden very snuggly in his blankets, as we’ve read and been told by various sources.. mainly medical professionals that a young baby like Ayden needs to be tightly wound in his blankets so that he can’t move – this is something they will find particularly comforting and similar to life in the womb. Well sure enough every night that Mom wraps Ayden tightly in his blanket – and it’s super snug! he sleeps all the way through the night…
We use a stretchy blanket so that when you wrap him properly it’s like a straight jacket… almost. Well tonight he got loose somehow. Not sure how that happened, but we’re positive that’s why he woke up… we’ll have to make a video of how Lindsay wraps him… Lindsay’s got it down to a real science.
Otherwise life is pretty normal… Ayden had his first swim a few days ago – still need to sit down and stitch that video together and post it. Mandy and Chris, their children Talissa and Keegan are visiting from BC, so Ayden got to meet his Auntie, Uncle and cousins. Mandy is Opa’s Daughter. They’ll be here for two weeks so hopefully we’ll spend some more time with them.
We’ve been having lots of thunderstorms lately… nothing damaging. This week Micheal Jackson, a very historically important musician as passed away. I word it that way as Ayden.. you’ll have no clue who he is. But despite how weird he got in his later years, his influence in the music industry is undeniable. And when he died it was a little bit of history happening.
You’ll notice that most of our posts were done in the early hours of the morning while You( Ayden) are falling asleep in mommy’s arms. and since you started sleeping all night the posts got fewer and fewer.
Daily Routine
You’re very much a child of routine now.. your feeds are like clockwork… and we keep things on track to keep you happy. And this works.. My favourite times are 6:30 till around 8pm as that’s our play time… Mommy gets to bond with you all day long.. so if your a Momma’s boy I’ll understand why. And by momma’s boy I mean you follow her around and want to be with her all the time. I was a momma’s boy and to a degree still am, so you got a little slack there with me 😉
But our play time means a lot to me… I had you laughing really hard last night.. at this point your small enough that if I ly on my tummy and lean on my elbows with my hands, palm up. You can fit in there perfectly and then I can raise or lower my arms bringing you closer or further from me.. this makes nibbling your tummy a lot of fun… and with a little bit of sound on my part to create anticipation we have a lot of fun.. last night you were laughing a lot at this game.. and it’s an amazing time. Something you’ll probably only understand when you have a child of your own.
Approved!!!
With Ayden’s birth being all out of wack as it was… what is wack anyway? well with things not going exactly as we’d planned it I’ll say. We didn’t really consider things like Maternity leaves and sick leaves etc., so when we were told that Lindsay couldn’t work and had to go to Mac because she was dilated then her Maternity leave started. Ayden… Maternity leave is when parents are granted paid time off to focus on being parents and tending to the needs of their little growing babies. Well Mom had 103 days without a baby but she was on maternity leave. So needless to say we got worried as your maternity time is only 52 weeks. So what we should have done is taken ‘sick’ leave which for Ayden is when your work is aware that you can’t work because of a health reason and the government steps in and says we’ll help you out, and pay you while your getting better. Then after the birth gone on Maternity. So now that we’re all on the same page here… Mom and I have been worried that she’d have to go back to work in November instead of in February. And that you’d be in daycare early… so after much paper work was done and many letters were gathered from doctors we went to the government and asked them for that sick leave time we missed out on.. and finally they contacted us and told us that, it was acceptable that we do that. So this means Mommy can stay with Ayden now for the full year.. like a mommy should. Very good news.
Well folks it’s 4:41am and I get up at 6am to leave for 7am so I’m running out of time to sleep… I will write more soon.
nighty night little guy.
