KidsAbility Check Up

logoYesterday which was the 25th of March, was our first meeting at the KidsAbility center. Here we brought in Ayden and they had a physiotherapist, a pediatrician, a language/speech specialist, and an occupational therapist all present to examine our little guy. The room we met in had a mat in the center with a few toys.

Then each specialist sat around the mat and they took turns handling him. First the physiotherapist who said he had no limited motion or movement. He would take the weight of his body on his legs briefly as any child his age might, he was able to lift his head for short durations when on his tummy. Able to move his arms and legs in unison and was able to kick and stretch normally. The Occupational Therapist noted that he was able to grip and hold small toys for short durations as normal, when supported on only his chest he tried to lift his head. And so it went from specialist to specialist.. where he really shone, was vocally – he was coo’ing and chatting away in his own little baby talk so much – I was very proud of him. All in all he handled very nicely – didn’t fuss, and seemed to impress all of the specialists in their own right.

Today since it is 1:49am Lindsay has to take the little guy to Mac to meet with a Neurologist, then a growth and development clinic. So it’ll be a long drive for mommy and then a busy day for the little fella.. he he he which means we might sleep well tonight 😀

right now Mom has the little guy fed and almost asleep so I should wrap this up.

Note to Ayden:
Years from now your gonna be reading through this… not sure what your gonna think… the whole project was meant to let you know your wanted and your loved. That, despite all the times nature said “you shouldn’t be…” we said “yes you will be.” I know lots of kids, or just people, as they grow up need to answer fundamental questions – why am I here? how do I fit in to this world… and while I may not have those answers for you. You should know that it was our intent for you to live and be joyful in all that life has to offer you. There is a rule in painting “you need the dark to show light and the light to show dark” this too plays out in life, don’t hate the bad times they’re needed to show the good ones. I pray you don’t ever lose the will to be here in life, and if you do perhaps this will remind you of your primal urge to survive – to be. You are loved no doubt. Live and Be!
