Gas = No Sleep for Daddy…Then Mommy comes to the rescue!

Almost the end of Ayden’s first week home… When I find myself in the middle of the night and he’s fussing I try to put myself in my future self’s shoes and think “what memories would I have then thinking back to this night” and I think that I’d think of it fondly and yet be happy that the realism of it has been diluted in the waters of time… lol.  So Thursday we started his Vitamins… we learned they make him gassy… very very gassy.. he was like a motorboat…  in the end we just kept giving him more milk.. and he took it… he chugged 80 mls the one feed.. normally he was doing 50 or 60, but I guess the little fella was hungry. But he kept crying… over and over and i was like.. dare we give him more as the one time at the hospital he had reflux… so we went for it… and he drank it all and then found that drunkin milk state where he just passes out. I love that state.. you can move him like a little puppet he does nothing… totally out of it.

We hit a point last night tho’ where Lindsay says to me… get some sleep you gotta go in tomorrow… Thank you Lindsay very much for that. I hope you can sleep during the day today.

Milestones:
Yesterday was Ayden’s first stroller trip around the block, with mom and grampy Bingham.

Question (not sure if my last post worked!) Is grampy Bingham Grampy or Wilhelm? Just trying to grasp the full picture! Give Ayden some kisses and hugs from me please!!

Helpful tip (I hope!) – Zoe would get really gassy when I ate a lot of veggies (peppers in particular), the fun of nursing. We found Ovol (minty liquid to calm gas) worked wonders. It got to the point she would just see the bottle and calm down b/c she knew it would make her feel better :o) Check with the pharmacist to see if it’s ok with the other meds. Hopefully this helps.

A great thing for both of you…Riley is just a gassy little boy…all the time, we call him the perculator (you know like a coffee perculator)…for him it goes hand in hand with the whole reflux/immature digestive system, etc.
I went to Zehrs; in the baby section and I bought “tummmy oil” the brand is “weleda” there is instructions on how to do it…..I also went to chapters and bought an infant massage book….it works wonders, I tell ya. The oil smells great, after about 10 mins or so the little arms and legs relax; plus the benefits of Moms touch ( as you have learned about so much already) you cant go wrong! Riley really benefitted from massage.
    Hoping this might help too!
