6 pound baby boy!!!

well, our little boy is now 6 pounds!!!

Dad and I spent the weekend together here in Oakville and we spent most of the time at the hospital with our little cutie.

Saturday night dad and I bathed him together for the first time and we also weighed him. We did a little happy dance when the scale said 2726 grams which is 6 pounds.  Ayden is doing better each day with his breastfeeding…but we find that in the evening he is just sooo tired and fusses a bit with the feeding. The nurses however have been great.  I have told them that I don’t want them to use bottles as I want to solely breastfeed and they have been respectful of that. So in between the times that I am not at the hospital for breastfeeds, they use his feeding tube. So each day is getting a bit better and he is getting stronger.

Ayden had his eyes tested again this morning. They found that there is no change in his eyes which is good. It means that the problem is not getting worse, but it’s also not getting any better. They have ordered another eye exam for next Monday.

So other then that, I am living at my dad’s right now. I have asked the social worker about Ronald McDonald house and she is going to look into it for me. For those that don’t know, when your baby is very ill and in the hospital, there is a place called Ronald McDonald house that you can stay in for $10 per day. From what I understand, the rooms are like hotel rooms, but you have to share a bathroom. There is a communal kitchen, but there are volunteers that come in and make dinner a few times a week. There is free parking at the house and free long distance. So far I have been driving back and forth either from our house in Baden or my dad’s here in Oakville, but the drive is now getting exhausting. I am going back and forth 4 times a day….the problem is that there is 3 people on a waiting list to get into the house and then if the hospital wants to move me to night feedings as well as day, then they will set me up with a bunk room in the hospital. You don’t want to stay there too long as the hospital rooms are so tiny and they have one single bed with a night stand. there is no windows or anything…it’s kinda like a jail cell…lol…

It’s getting harder now cause we know that the end of the hospital stay is near. I mean Ayden’s due date was Feb 25th…I don’t know if he will come home before then, but we are getting close. It’s also VERY hard to be away from home. I know that my dad loves that I am living at his house, but I miss my home, my cats, and most of all my hubby. It’s going to be very strange as when I come home for good, I will not be alone!!!

So I hope everyone is doing well. Sorry the updates have been so few and far between lately, but I have been spending all of my time at the hospital and by the time I get back to my dads I am just exhausted and end up sleeping…

I would also like to congratulate Kris Wilhelm on his confirmation yesterday. I am sorry I could not be there with the family to celebrate, but my thoughts were with you!!!!  🙂

WHOOO HOO!!!!! What a big boy! Way to be such an excellent producer, Linds. I’ve never been biased re: breast/bottle before, but it’s obvious that mother’s milk really is best. Hugs & kisses & cheek squishes for Ayden (still can’t wait to meet you!), much love to all 3 of you. xoxoxo

PS- We all know that glasses make you look sexy/mysterious anyways. And you can whip them off at important moments in conversation, to emphasize your point, a la Horatio Caine!
