Keep On Truckin'

Well just wanted to say that Ayden is just truckin’ along. not a heck of a lot to report this day. On the down side his diaper rash has gotten worse, so way to go Nurse Heather for not changing his diaper because you didn’t feel like it. If you were working for me I’d fire you right quick. But thankfully you haven’t been on for the past few days. His rash got so bad that they had to actually use a medicated cream now – the zinc cream wont do it.  But we did take it up with the Charge Nurse – she’s like the head nurse on the floor and she told us that she’s very upset with how that was handled and that next time it’s our duty to bring it to the charge nurses’ attention immediately and that if we ask them to change the diaper then they have to change it and that was just an excuse from that nurse because she didn’t feel like changing him. So not to paint the ward as inept or anything most of the nurses are amazing! and we know that Ayden wouldn’t be where he is with out them. Thank you Julie, Amy and Judy you’ve been so awesome that we couldn’t help but notice you. And to those of you who we haven’t seen… thank you too.

One more addition – Ayden is now past 5 pounds he is 2292 grams (5 pounds one ounce)

cheers.

Assuming babies go to the bathroom on a schedule is ridiculous.

Diaper rash is usually inevitable. Diaper rash that needs medication other than typical butt paste is inexcusable. There is a huge difference.

As if the little guy hasn’t already been through enough.

Well, hopefully things get better for your little man.

Thanks for the update. Hope the house is now nice and warm again after the furnace problem. From 1.5 lbs to 5 lbs has been a major journey; funny how far back it seems to when he was born. I wouldn’t make too much fuss over the diaper rash; it may be that the nurse was attending to another baby who was in distress – there’s always another side to the story. Your focus on the positives on his care is important and very appreciated by these hard working tireless nurses at McMaster. So rest easy, and the 5 of us here always huddle around the computer to see how A-Train is making out – great to see that he’s “truckin’ along” as you’ve said…
