YEAH 4 pounds already!!!!
Hi everyone!
Ayden is up to 1824 grams (4.02 pounds)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂
So today has been another good day. I went for a visit this afternoon to Hamilton to see Ayden. When I got there the nurse had Ayden’s hat off to give his head a rest from the pads and pressure that the CPAP holders give him. The CPAP was still on (as Ayden still needs this), but it was nice to see him without his little hat on!
I spoke with one of the doctors today and he asked if we had been given the results of the last head ultrasound and I told him no. He said that the little water spaces that we had to drain with the spinal tap are actually getting SMALLER!!!! HORRAY..this is awesome news. He also said that he thinks we have averted any operations to put a shunt/stint in…whew….what a relief
The doctor also mentioned that he has been very very pleased with Ayden’s progression with the oxygen and pressure through the CPAP machine. As they are still weening him off of this, they hope to have him done on the tubes by the end of next week, but this all depends on how Ayden handles everything. So things are looking up. The eye exam is done and he is all doing well with that, feeding is at 32 mils over an hour period with a two hour break, he is peeing and pooping just fine too! The next test is a hearing test and that will be done some time around gestational week 34 (he is 33 weeks right now). I also found out that because he is doing so well, the head ultrasounds will be done every other week rather then every week.
It seems that Ayden is growing out of a lot of the issues he was having at the beginning. Whatever damage was done is still there and can’t be fixed but there is no further damage at this time.
I had a really nice cuddle with him today and he didn’t even need extra oxygen when he was out of the incubator.
I would like to wish everyone health. It seems that there is a lot of family and friends right now that are ill (Mark included) and I wish that everyone gets better soon.
Have a wonderful evening!
WOW that is excellent news. You go Ayden.
I am glad to know that Aydens eyesight is a-ok. It must have been a total relief for you both. 4 lbs..he is coming along in leaps and bounds.
The new pics are amazing. My thoughts are with you.
