January 2nd update

Hi everyone!

So today’s update is a good one!

this morning dad and I called in for our morning update and we were told that Ayden was a bit fussy today. He had spit up a few times and was swinging quite a bit.

But this evening’s call bring this fussy’ness to a close. Apparently Ayden had a full tummy and did not have a poop this morning. They think that since he was so full and was trying to push a poop out that his tummy did an opposite and the food came back up.

He did have a poop this afternoon and after that he was just fine!

Ayden now weighs 1591 grams (3.5 pounds). He is also breathing room air as well. He still has his nose prongs in, but room air that you and I breath has 21% oxygen in it. Ayden has not required more then this amount of oxygen!!!  The nurse also told me that during Ayden’s bath and weigh time tonight, she took the CPAP (oxygen and nose prongs) off for a short time and he tolerated that well!!!  Woo hoo!!!

So he is just growing, eating and pooping right now…all the things he should be doing!

I also have to say that it was so wonderful for me yesterday when dad held Ayden for the first time. each time we went to the hospital I always made sure to ask to see if Mark wanted to hold him, but Mark always preferred that I held him. He said it was very comforting to see me with our son…but yesterday Mark plunged right in…and I see what he means. It was very comforting for me to see Mark with Ayden, I actually got tears in my eyes. It was a very special time for the three of us. One that I know Mark and I will not forget.

I miss that little fella of yours! All the best as the New Year unfolds. I\’ll keep checking in on the blog (I do like the new look by the way!). Take good care. Julie, RN
