December 28th 46 days old

Well our little man is a trooper. A-Train as he is now called is trucking along. Yesterday we were into see him and it was a great visit. Ayden was really active, stretching his arms and legs, his eyes were wide open and he was just trying to explore his surroundings. Uncle Scott came to see Ayden and I know that Ayden was really excited as it was not until Uncle Scott came in that he started to wake up. I think he was trying to show off….LOL..

So this morning we called for an update. Ayden had an uneventful night. He slept well, and nothing really happened. His weight has increased, he is now 1453 grams (3.2 pounds). he is in 26% oxygen and is doing well.

We spoke with the doctor yesterday who also told us that he is doing well. After the blood tranfusion, his oxygen started to settle a bit. Ayden has not been swinging so much and has been a bit more stable. It seems that the doctors are quite pleased with his progress…

It’s funny. We have had so many days of good news or nothing eventful happening, but I still feel so guarded. They have not done a spinal tap since December 9th, the head ultrasounds look good, Ayden has fought off the E-coli infection…and he is gaining weight as well. All of these good things should make us happy and they do, but on the other hand we are now on guard and pins and needles waiting for the next upset. The doctors and nurses told us that it would be a rollercoaster and they are truly right about that. Each time we call we get nervous as you never know what the call is going to be..good or bad…

But we are soooo very thankful that Ayden is doing well right now. he looks so peaceful in his little bed. I could watch him sleep all day long!

So, lets keeps those prayers and thoughts going as we still need them. As Mark says, we are not out of the woods quite yet, but at least we have found our path.
