December 5th visit and update

Today was a GREAT day.

I went down to the hospital at 11:30 this morning. When I got there the nurse was just doing some handling time, changing diapers and what not so I went and pumped. When I got back, the nurse said that Ayden was having a really good day and said that if I wanted to I could have Kangaroo time. I took the offer right away!!!

She put Ayden on my chest and he just made himself comfy. He can’t really nuzzle in as he has some awesome headgear holding his oxygen tubes in place, but he cuddled me with his body and that was really nice. During my again 2 hour kangaroo time, I was speaking with the nurse. It seems that since yesterday Ayden only had one spell. He is tolerating his feedings really well…pooping up a storm and just all around a happy boy. The spinal tap sure does make him feel better.

I was at the hospital until 3 ish. I had a nice long visit with Ayden. I helped change his diaper, which he filled when I was cuddling him, but it didn’t bother me….The nurse did notice some goop in his mouth and proceeded to clean it out with a long q-tip like thing. Apparently with the oxygen in, it can affect the secretions in the mouth…it was really gross and made me a bit queasy…It’s not like a bit of spit up, its really really much more gross….but she cleaned it and then Ayden was all happy again.

As we do every night, we called for an update to see how the rest of the day was. Ayden’s oxygen is down to 36 percent (which is really good). He is still pooping and peeing up a storm, which is good as it shows that his bowels and what not is working and he is okay with the food as well.

So all around, it’s been a good day.

Both Mark and I are going for a visit tomorrow as Mark has not been in since Sunday to see Ayden. Should be a nice visit!

Yea!! Stronger every day- I am amazed by your resilience, Ayden. Strong, & a fighter, just like your parents. 🙂 Love you all.
