Holding my baby for the first time ever!!!

Well tonight was the most amazing night that I have had. I actually got to hold my son for the first time since he was born 14 days ago….

When Ayden was born, they showed him to me and then wisked him away in an incubator. I have hardly even touched him since he was born and never even got the chance to hold him as he needed to be with the doctors and team of people that kept him alive.

Tonight the nurse asked me if I wanted to hold Ayden. My first reaction was to say no…he is so fragile and he is hooked up to so many wires that I was really nervous, but Mark said that I should. I let the nurse know that I would like to hold him.

The nurse Julie, arranged the wires and tubes and put Ayden right on my chest under my shirt. I actually got to hold him right against my skin. It was the most amazing feeling I have had in a long long time. To hold your son after everything we have been through…to feel his heart beat…and just to cuddle…it’s like nothing I have ever experienced….

what an amazing feeling….one that I will never forget….

Mark, Kim told me about Ayden. I know we haven’t seen each other in AGES but Carlo and I live in Hamilton, quite near the hospital in fact, and would love to do anything we can to help. We can run errands, provide a quiet place to sit, or just another face to talk to. I won’t pester you about it but we’re here. carlo.devito@gmail.com

I must agree with Bek on this one… tears of joy for your joy abound. You’re right Dee, there is nothing like holding your baby for the first time – and I am so glad that you were able to experience the beauty of it at last. Ayden will gain strength from your strength and love — which means that kid will be stronger than the Hulk in no time 🙂 Much love to all three of you

    Kim xoxo
