Mom update

Well, I guess that this last few weeks has had quite a toll on me.  I have not been sleeping very well and been forgetting about looking after myself as I have been more concerned about Ayden, his health, and setting up all the bills/change of address for the move coming up.

Last night after our visit with the Doctor, Mark and I went for dinner at Kings Buffet. It was really really good. I did notice that for the past 2 days, I have had some pain in my lower back on the left side, kind of where your kidneys are. The pain was so bad last night that I could barely sit at dinner. I thought that I must be experiencing a kidney infection and told Mark that I was going to see the doctor.

I went to the doctor this morning. They did a urine test which did not show any infection, however when the doctor had me lie down on my back and felt my abdomen, I was faced with some extreme pain and cramps. He told me that I have a uterine infection and this must have been due to the infection that I had with the placenta. the doctor gave me two prescriptions to take. They are horse pills. One is called Metronidazole 500mg  (I have to take it 3 times a day for 7 days) and the other is Cephalexin 500mg (I have to take it 4 times a day for 7 days). The doctor also ordered some blood work to see how my hemoglobin is.

So right now I am not feeling very well. I hope that the antibiotics kick in soon…I have a follow up with the Doctor on December 1st so hopefully I will be better by then.

Ayden Update

Since I am on these antibiotics, I called the hospital to make sure that this would not affect the breast milk. The hospital consulted with the lactation specialist and said that these were considered safe medications to take. WHEW

While I was on the phone, I asked the nurse Amy for an Ayden update.

Yesterday Ayden was feeding 1mil every four hours. He was tolerating this really well so they changed to 1mil every 2 hours. I just heard today that they have up’d his milk to 2mil’s ever 2 hours!!!!! This is just great news. means that his little tummy is accepting my milk and this will help him grow…and we really need him to grow!!! Apparently he had a really restful night last night and he is doing quite well today. Nothing out of the ordinary has happened.

Yahoo – a good news day for Ayden!!!!
