7 Months old today!!!
Well Ayden today marks your 7th month with us! You are such a wonderful addition to our lives! … so many things have been happening lately! First off, today you tried your first taste of vanilla ice cream. While daddy was holding you at Oma’s house, I took a teeny tiny bit of ice cream on my finger and put it on your bottom lip and tongue. You seemed very pleased with it! Today we also went for a walk in waterloo park to see the Waterloo Art Festival…you slept most of the walk. 🙂 You also got a new jolly jumper and tried it for the first time today. Your head is still a bit wobbly, but in a week or so you will just love this new toy!
You also had your first time at the cottage last week. Grammy and Grampy (Lyli and my dad) showed you around the cottage. You got to also meet Meida and Jim (Grammy’s sister and husband). You really enjoyed the 2 hour car ride to get there – you slept the whole time!!! The car ride home was good for about a hour and a half, then you started to wake up and let me know that you were hungry!
You are also such a happy baby! You are laughing up a storm. Friday this week (June 12) I figured out that you LOVE when I raspberry your tummy. You laugh so hard….and your laugh is such a wonderful sound! You were laughing so much that I had to call daddy at work so he could hear you! You are giving us big smiles as well. You brighten up a room and you bring lots of love to our hearts!
You also love to babble. You will “talk” to mommy for hours and also will talk to your friends on the floor. Your friends are some pretty cool baby toys. One is a bird called “Roy”, another is a space man called “heinrick”, another is a elephant called “Ellie”, another is an octopus called “Octo” and there are a few others that don’t have names yet. You love to grab these toys and bring them to your face to try to eat them…but you will also lie on the floor and “talk” to them for hours as well. You LOVE floor time!!!
You have also taken quite a liking to your swing. We can put you in your swing with your “friends” surrounding you and you will play until you fall asleep!
You have not figured out how to roll over onto your tummy yet, but you roll onto your side. Mommy rolls you over onto your tummy and you can hold your head up for a few minutes at least. You are getting so strong.
You really enjoy your food lately. You are eating more (about 120 mils every 3 hours or so). We found out through the occupational therapist that you don’t have the “sucking and latching” motion when you are feeding, you actually squish the nipple so the milk comes out. A little different from other babies, but you are getting the milk you need and gaining weight so this is not a concern at all. 🙂
We had a visit with the Neurologist this past week. THis is the same lady (Dr. Sing) that treated you when you were in the hospital, and she remembered you! She was so pleased with how well you are doing. She actually said that you are right on track and she has no concerns about your development at this point! She also said that your Neck muscles are developing really nicely!
You really enjoy bath time. You have not figured out how to splash yet, but you just love the warm water. Mommy holds you in the bath for washing your head and your belly, then Daddy holds you while mommy washes your back. Daddy likes to splash you up and down in the water, and you LOVE it!!! You are getting too big now for your baby bath so we are going to have to bathe you in the big people bath tub, but don’t worry we have a special chair for you!
I think that’s it for now. Oh, you now weigh 13 and a half pounds and are 24 and a half inches long!!!
