Tears of Joy due to the sweetest sound

Well today has been a fun kinda day. Ayden was in a pretty good mood today. He got up with me at 8 and has been up almost all day long. After his lunch feeding he was cradled in my arms. I normally hold him for a bit after his food for a few reasons…if you lie him down the milk will pour back out of his mouth, and also I like to snuggle with him when he is all relaxed cause he’s got a nice full tummy. Well today when he was in my arms, he started really softly cooing…so I followed suit…then I started to quietly sing to him…I sang the alphabet song, mary had a little lamb and also the song Human by the killers…well, when I was singing to him, he was cooing back to me…and then…HE GIGGLED!!!!  I couldn’t believe it…his mouth smiled so wide and he started to laugh!!!!  I all of a sudden had tears streaming down my face and was saying to myself…oh my goodness what just happened…so I kept singing to him and he did it again!!!!  It was the best sound in the world!!!  I promptly called Mark on his cell phone (tears streaming down my face). I told him what happened and he was so excited too!!!

I tried to get him to do it again all afternoon, but he just coo’d and cried and pooped! LOL…

Since he was awake all day, he got a bit fussy this afternoon and finally fell asleep at about 3:45 and he is up in his bed right now fast asleep!

I have to say that was so amazing to experience. I can’t even tell you the joy and happiness I feel to be able to see my son laugh.

Ayden has overcome so much and each milestone he passes (smiling, laughing, grasping…) shows that his brain is re-wiring from the damage done at birth. I worry that he will be disabled (and if he is we will love him all the same and he won’t be any different then he is now) but to see that he is doing “normal” developmental things just brings joy to my heart.  He is the most amazing  little boy. He amazes me each and every day with his growth and development….he is just an outstanding little guy….

I hope to get his laughter on video and post it, but you never know when it’s going to happen…

so it’s been an Awesome day and I hope that we can share this laughter with dad this weekend!
