Some News

Whew – it’s fairly late – but if I don’t post now, then there will be no posts… And I really am sorry that I haven’t been able to write more but with Ayden at the hospital here in town I’ve been spending almost all my free time there. So many of you are probably wondering whats going on. Well things generally I’d say are pretty good.

Ayden tore his feeding tube out of his face on Friday and the nurses said “well since mom is gonna stay here around the clock and feed him, we’ll leave it out” so no more feeding tube. Lindsay has for the last 24hours been feeding Ayden entirely on her own.. no top ups and no bottles. So way to go mom! The down side of this is she’s stuck sharing a small room and only gets to sleep for a few hours at a time… apparently the phone they ring her with is incredibly loud and it wakes her up by scaring the crap out of her.

Ayden took his car seat test today… which is basically – they put him in the seat with his meters on – and they watch and see what he does. If his oxygen levels drop below 88% for more than 10 seconds twice over an hour and a half, he fails. Well he passed it.. in fact he last 1hour 45mins and then we took him out for his evening feed.

So one less thing to worry about.

Now with his arrival growing ever nearer – I’ve had much work to do… today I got his change table together and part of the giraffe painted. mmm if I had my Black Berry with me I could have posted some pictures.. but not to worry those will come soon.

Tomorrow or Sunday – I’m going to Babies R Us with Oma to pick up a matress and return our baby monitor for a different model. I know I was adamant about getting this model the “Angel Care” monitor.. but after talking with many nurses on the matter they told me that’s the worse one to get. The matt that the baby ly’s on is way way to sensitive – and the alarm is so loud your neighbours are going to be knocking down your doors. They suggested the model that has the web cam’s as you can always watch your baby as well as listen to them. Perhaps if the Angel Care monitor worked as it supposed to it would be good. The nurses said that it doesn’t actually check the heart rate it’s a motion detector.

So we’ll take care of that, I’ve also been washing all the little fella’s clothes… wow does he have a lot of clothes.. I mean that includes blankets etc., but ya way to go little dude.. and thanks again to everyone…

So many of you are itching to know.. “WHEN IS HE COMING HOME!??” well like we tell everyone it’s not a set date.. it’s when he can do certian things 100% and requires nothing further from the nicu.

He’s getting there.. we don’t wanna rush it even if today marks 101 days that we’ve been going through this.. we need him healthy and perfect. But I assure you from what I’ve seen it’s not much longer…

Well I’ve got to change the laundry and then head up to bed.. so I can start again at it tomorrow.

cheers
