Ayden update Dec 19th
Hi everyone,
Well it’s been a while since we have done an Ayden update with all the hospital visits and surgery by me, so here you go.
Ayden is doing well. His weight has topped 1230 grams (2.71 pounds)!! His feeding is 14 mils every hour and a half, then they give him a half an hour to digest and they start all over again. He is apparently doing really well with the milk as they just asked us to bring in about 40 or so containers…I was so happy to oblige, but this won’t even dent the amount in the freezer. LOL…it will be nice to be off the pain killers so I can start to store the milk again, right now every time I pump we have to dump the milk as it’s not good for the baby.
Ayden’s oxygen is doing well too. He is down to between 25-35% oxygen. this is a drop from his 40-50%. they have also dropped the pressure on his breathing apparatus as well hoping to wein him off of it soon.
They did find that he was a bit constipated. Apparently one of the nurses watched his oxygen and heart rate and when the little guy did not have a poop, his levels went crazy. She gave him some assistance and once he pooped his levels dropped dramatically. So they are keeping an eye on his functions to make sure they are working well.
The new thing is Ayden’s right arm. His arm has what is called a PIC line in it. It’s a long type of iv that can last for up to 30 days in his body. Apparently they noticed that his arm is a bit swollen so they did an xray to see if the line has moved inside his arm and is displaced. Apparently the line is fine. The doctors assessed his arm today and they are not to worried about it so they will just keep watch.
Other then that, I have not seen my little guy in quite some time and I miss him dearly. I want to go up to see him, but I also have to be well enough for the hour drive. I have 4 incisions and the bumps on the road are going to feel extreme if I go right now….but we will see, might try to take the trip tomorrow to bring in some milk and see how he is doing.
Other then that, i am just trying to heal. Have not done ANY Christmas shopping…our tree is empty except for one gift that Mark has gotten me…I hope to get out before Christmas but if not, Mark will get some super gifts with the boxing day sales!!! i do feel really bad there is nothing under the tree, but there is not much I can do about it right now…sigh…
