With Every Up, There Is A Down…

So this morning Lindsay made her daily call to the hospital which we were hoping would reveal that nothing had changed and that our little fella was just trucking along. Especially after the exceptional trip yesterday. The nurse informed Lindsay that his head was swelling and that another tap would be performed today. And that the neural surgeon had recommended every other day a tap would be done…  Now for all you mothers out there that might have had an epidural you will sympathise with the pain this procedure causes. Oh but he gets no initial needle to dull the pain as pain killers and the like on such a small form could have negative effects… so he feels all of the pain from it. For those who don’t know.. they take a needle and stick it into...

Visit on December 3rd

Well this morning I decided that since the weather was okay, that I was going to drive to Hamilton to visit Ayden. Boy am I glad I did. What a great day I had. Ayden had another spinal tap yesterday. They took another 2.5 milliliters out of his spine/head. Because of this he is doing great. He only had one apnea spell at midnight last night, his oxygen needs were down to 38% and his feeding has been increased to 7 mil’s ever hour and a half. When I got to the hospital, I asked the nurse if I would be able to hold my baby today as the last two times I have asked I was not allowed due to the busy unit and lack of nurses, plus Ayden was on a bit more oxygen and they did not feel that he would handle well. today however, the nurse gave me the go ahead!  Talk...

Wed December 3rd – 28 weeks Old!

Time for an update… sorry that these have been dwindling – who knew that moving involved so much work both before and after.. yeesh, But I digress… we’re here to hear about the little guy. Updates: Lets see, he’s still “swinging” like crazy… they have managed to get his oxygen requirements down. All that means.. is they have a machine that pumps the oxygen into his lungs… and the lower that percent is the better as it means his lungs are naturally pulling the oxygen he needs out of the surrounding air. So he’s been on 46-50% oxygen and is now down to 35 or so. So that was a long winded way of saying his lungs are getting better. They did notice that his head was swelling a bit, so they did an ultrasound...

Switching Gears…

I’d like to take a moment here and just switch gears as it were… we’ve got a great number of people praying for little Ayden… and those prayers have done a ton of good. A TON OF GOOD. each visit he seems to sparkle just a bit more. And he wouldn’t be were he is today if not for the prayers of so many people. Although he’s not out of the woods yet and still has a lot of distance to cross… I can’t ignore the other hearts in my family that are carrying they’re own burden’s. My sister(in-law) Cindy Wilhelm’s mother is very very sick with Cancer. I don’t know all the in’s and out’s of it, save for the fact that its gotten into her mothers spine now. So if people who are praying for...
